Arts in East Herts presents

An Introduction to the Endangered Craft of Globemaking

Step inside the workshop and explore the fascinating world of globemaking. During this open studio day, you will discover how globes were made in the past and see the skills that keep this rare craft alive today. You will also have the chance to try some of the techniques yourself, including stretching map gores, the distinctive method of applying a flat map to a round sphere.

This event is suitable for ages 16+

Accessibility

The studio is located on the first floor and normally accessed by a flight of steps. If step-free access is required, this can be arranged in advance. An accessible bathroom is available on site. Seating will be provided during the session, and assistance dogs are welcome. If you have any other accessibility requirements, such as step-free parking, a quiet space, or attending with a carer, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
